Description

This safety and customer focused individual is responsible customer installation and maintenance of residential and commercial natural gas equipment for the Liberty Utilities (New Brunswick) territory.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead by example and encourage others to live the values of a Safety Culture on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining high levels of safety for our employees, customers and the general public.
  • Work collaboratively with all Liberty departments, external contractors and customers to ensure positive customer experiences are created.
  • Complete safe and effective inspections of downstream gas systems and appliances prior to turn on.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation for emergency and priority service response.
  • First responder for gas related emergencies.
  • Installation and maintenance of natural gas meters and other utility assets.
  • Perform downstream appliance service and maintenance.
  • Provide assistance to installation contractors on code requirements, coaching to improve work practices and procedures with the objective of upgrading the level of workmanship, improving the efficiency of the installation process and ensuring code compliance.
  • Assist with the delivery of coaching/training to internal and external groups.
  • Support other internal departments within the company as required to meet the requirements of the business
  • Willingness to routinely travel to other Liberty depots in New Brunswick as required.
  • A sound track record as a safety conscious individual in the industry.
  • A recognized G2  (working towards G1) Gas New Brunswick gas Technician license is required
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation, maintenance and service of gas fired equipment.
  • Must be a Team Player.
  • Self-motivation is a critical asset for this position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of utility operations is an asset.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license that is in good standing.
  • Be able to operate in a computerized work environment and have experience using email and MS office programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working with medium to moderate physical activity: standing, walking, lifting reaching with hands, arms, and crouching.  The employee may be required to physically lift up to 20 kilograms to perform the essential duties of this role.
