Description:

This position is responsible for performing accounting and analytic functions to accurately prepare and support the Company's financial statements and related disclosures.  This position includes support of the month-end financial closing process, preparation and review of balance sheet account analysis and bank reconciliations for multiple entities; and provide support and assistance to management during audits, rate cases, and special projects.  This position requires the ability to work quickly and within a team environment.  Perform other duties as assigned. 

Essential Functions:
This information is intended to be description of the key responsibilities of the position.  The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.

  • Prepare, review and enter journal entries for multiple divisional utility companies.
  • Prepare and perform detailed review of balance sheet account analysis in order to identify trends and errors.
  • Prepare, research and correct bank reconciliations for bank to book differences.
  • Review of A/R for entities and corresponding trend report.
  • Complete and review sales tax report for online filings.
  • Provide support and assistance to Regulatory and Finance Managers during rate cases and audit requests.
  • Provide assistance with annual budget preparation.
  • Assist in mentorship and bonding of Finance team with business functions.
  • Assist with new acquisitions and/or regionalization of entities
  • Participate as a member of the Finance team to ensure transactions are recorded in the accounting system and/or budget system in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, regulatory accounting principles, sound budget practices, prescribed internal controls and Company policy. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and minimum of three years' experience performing duties such as:
    • Bank reconciliations with high volume cash and payment activity.
    • GL account reconciliations
    • Financial analytic preparation
    • Accounts payable
    • Project management
    • SOX audit work
    • Support of highly functioning operations, sales, accounting or other administrative area
    • Excellent Excel skills
    • Understanding of GAAP
    • Knowledge and experience with computer accounting systems
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to develop strategic solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to work under demanding time constraints with firm deadlines.
  • Demonstration of being a team player who can think outside the box.
  • Some travel may be required
  • Valid state driver's license.
