Mandate:

Responsibilities include performing various welding activities on live gas mains and services and fabricating the necessary pipe and fittings associated with large meter installations as requested by the CFS Department; working with various pneumatic tools as well as performing physical labor associated with pipeline construction and maintenance activities which include, but are not limited to, new main and service installations, replacement of mains and services, leak pinpointing, leak repairs and asphalt restoration.


Job Functions:
  • Weld on pipelines and fitting of various sizes;

  • Operate rock drills;

  • Operate pavement breakers;

  • Operate compactors;

  • Operate various hand tools included but not limited to: sledge hammers, piston scalers, wrenches, plunger bars, pry bars, various tapping equipment;

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Must have performed welding activities on natural gas pipelines

  • Must be certified to perform welding activities on natural gas pipelines

  • Must meet the welding requirements as outlined in CFR 192 Subpart E – Welding of Steel in Pipelines
    Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must have a valid DOT health card;

  • Ability to wear a respirator and or supplied air breathing apparatus;

  • Good mechanical ability;

  • Ability to read and write legibly;

  • Good physical condition and able to perform hard physical labor

  • Ability to work overtime, scheduled and unscheduled anytime, day, night, Saturday, Sundays and Holidays.
