Internally this role will be called, Manager, Vegetation Control and Regulatory Compliance

Purpose

To establish a 5 year Master Plan for vegetation control, which includes pole grubbing and pole testing for CalPeco, with budgets for the work in each successive year as well as responsibilities for regulatory affairs.

Accountabilities

  • Manage the annual vegetation program – tree trimming, pole grubbing, utility arborists
  • Hire contract foresters as required
  • Participate in public hearings or legal proceedings and represent CalPeco as subject matter expert for vegetation management.
  • Set up specifications and award contracts, supervise work, and approve progress payments.
  • Manage and develop budget forecasts.
  • Manage the pole testing program which is mandated by the CPUC and needs to be coordinated to stay in compliance.
  • Implementation of new concepts and recommendations that will improve the vegetation management program.
  • Prepare required reports for agencies.
  • Build good relationships with the local regulatory agencies (TRPA, Forest Service, Lahonton Water, State and local Fire Agencies and State and local government agencies).
  • Work on & complete budget to submit with rate case filings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • University or College degree in a professional or technical field is required or equivalent industry specific knowledge experience.
  • Knowledge of California CPUC/CALFIRE regulations is necessary
  • Minimum two to four years’ experience in a related field, preferably in a small to medium size utility.
  • String budgeting skills is necessary
  • Management experience
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

Certifications
Valid Operator’s Driver’s License. International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist Certification.
