Mandate:

Reporting to the Chief Compliance and Risk Officer, responsible for regulatory compliance leadership and oversight, education & awareness for existing and emerging regulatory rules and requirements for regulated and non-regulated/market-driven business activities across federal, states, provinces, and internationally as required.   Key leadership interface with regulatory bodies and auditors and enforcement entities as required.  Policy leadership and shaping at the federal and national level.  FERC, RTO/ISOs, NERC, CFTC, state and provincial regulatory commission bodies are key regulatory bodies.

Location:  This position may be located in United States locations or Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

Job Functions:

•The VP of Regulatory Compliance is responsible for regulatory compliance leadership and oversight of existing and emerging rules and regulations, for all enterprise business areas.
•Ensure organization is kept abreast of changing landscape and new/changes in rules and regulations. Provide for monitoring, interpretation and communication to the business lines.
•Lead on strategy for policy-shaping with relevant regulatory bodies and peer / industry groups working across the organization
•Provide 2nd line of defense compliance risk and performance assessments for regulatory compliance risk areas, fitting into enterprise-wide compliance framework and enterprise risk management program
•Provide key leadership interface with regulatory bodies, auditors, enforcement entities
•Lead on the development of related policy and compliance program content (eg FERC compliance program, Market trading policy, Affiliate behavior guidelines)
•Oversight for additional corporate policies development and compliance as needed
•Develop subject matter content for required related training for employees
•Provide effective guidance on issues and questions. 
•Liase with leadership across the organization, external counsel, and external organizations.
•Management of direct reports, team and talent development
•Travel expected as required

Minimum Qualifications:

•15+ years relevant industry management experience
•Experience in oversight of trading compliance program for power sector with FERC and CFTC regulations
•Knowledge and experience in non-regulated and regulated Gas and Electricity market trading and operations compliance
•Relevant leadership experience and management of teams
•FERC audit expertise
•State regulatory experience
•Understanding of NERC reliability requirements
•Corporate compliance areas knowledge and experience
•Strong leader, communicator, and compliance/ethics ethos & champion
•Executive presence and ability to influence externally
•Ability to work effectively across business lines and levels
•Collaboratively lead and coach transformative behavior and performance
•Undergraduate degree in appropriate field, post-graduate degree preferred
