Manager, Operations establishes unit goals and objectives in support of business operations through the development of group and individual performance plans and ongoing assessment of progress relative to established workload measures and performance standards. Additional responsibilities include customer satisfaction, system reliability and outage or disaster management.

  • Lead and direct operations personnel and contractors to establish a high performing team to ensure prompt service which exceeds the expectations of the customer and contributes to a positive Company image.
  • Ensures necessary material for the construction, operation and maintenance of district electric distribution and/or electric transmission facilities through coordination with warehouse department.
  • Ensures availability of equipment for construction, operation and maintenance crews by coordination of maintenance and scheduling of vehicles and equipment.
  • and ensure completion of routine maintenance, and system reliability issued work.
  • Maintains public and employee safety by directing safety programs in accordance with company safety rules, practices and procedures, local, state and federal regulations in conjunction with EHSS.
  • Ensures Utility compliance with all Federal, State, and local rules, regulations policies and procedures governing electricity generation and distribution. These include but are not limited to those rules of the EPA and FERC.
  • Attends bi-weekly managers meetings and reports on activities requested by Company management.
  • Ensures a high level of employee productivity, morale and operational efficiency and effectiveness by providing opportunities for continued growth of all employees through employee skills training, cross-training and career development.
  • Develop, motivate and train personnel with emphasis on individual growth, safe work habits and customer focus.
  • Leads and develops Operations staff in executing Company goals and objectives .
  • Facilitates and environment of teamwork by promoting continuous improvement, soliciting suggestions and new ideas and encouraging the exchange of information with all employees.
  • Assists Wildfire Mitigation planning.
  • Adherence to operating and capital improvement budgets for the Utility, including review and approval of Utility invoices.
  • Provides 24-hour-a-day availability to respond to service interruptions and emergencies to minimize their scope and duration.

  • Support - time sheet and invoice review and approvals.
  • Planning - USA scheduling, pump truck scheduling, switching orders, traffic control scheduling, capital budget planning, jobs meeting, crew assignments, material coordination with warehouse.
  • Response - winter prep, fire prep, EOC support, on-duty supervisor.
  • Planning - upgrades for T-men, inspectors, recruiting and staffing for open positions.
  • Field Work - crew audits, service territory review/inspections
  • Accident and incident investigation - document and investigate accidents and incidents
  • Committee - tools and standards committee, contract negotiations.
  • GO 165- repair tracking - special job numbers.
  • Training - coordination of technical training (cap bank, transformer, reclosers, etc.) and safety training (rubber glove, CPR, hurt man, vault rescue, etc.).
  • Compliance Support - assist in facilitating DOT drug testing for employees.
  • Support and Compliance - manage internal response to high fire weather, modify work procedures as appropriate, and manage system hardening activities.
  • Other jobs, duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Line or Electrician Journeyman with high school diploma or equivalent. Or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in a related field with progressive management experience, preferably in a utility organization.
  • Valid Operator’s Driver’s License and Passport.
