Purpose

The role of the Analyst, IT Security and Controls will support the growth and maturity IT security and compliance culture and organization. The incumbent will help develop the enterprise's technical and administrative controls to continue the improvement of the organization's security posture. The incumbent will support the documentation, evaluation/testing, remediation and improvement of enterprise systems and the policies governing the organization. Furthermore, the incumbent will be maintained effective collaboration and communication among the IT groups, Management, consultants and other partners. Overall, the role of the Analyst is to ensure security-by-design principles are applied to systems throughout the enterprise.

Accountabilities

System Security Design & Implementation

  • Prepares security systems by evaluating network and security technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, firewalls, and related security and network devices.

  • Implements security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; directing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation.

  • Support incident response activities collaborating with the IT Infrastructure and Operations teams investigating and responding to anomalies and threats.

  • Developing systems security plans, aligned with NIST 800-53, showcasing strong documentation and control framework experience.

     

Project Planning & Support

  • Assists in the delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for project team members; developing improved processes; assisting team members on industry best-practice.

  • Resolves security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues.

Security Awareness & Training

  • Enhances IT organizational knowledge-base through tracking emerging security practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; researching professional publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in professional organizations.

  • Supports the organization, cultivating a sense of security awareness, and continuous education.

  • Supports enterprise cyber security training and awareness program (modules, campaigns, communications, etc.)

Required Skills

  • Securing network communications.

  • Protecting a network against malware. (e.g., NIPS, anti-malware, restrict/prevent external devices, spam filters).

  • System, network, and OS hardening techniques. (e.g., remove unnecessary services, password policies, network segmentation, enable logging, least privilege, etc.).

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing cyber defense infrastructure anomalies and work through resolution.

  • Analyzing network traffic capacity and performance characteristics.

  • Reviewing logs to identify evidence of past intrusions.

  • Performing impact/risk assessments.

  • Recognizing and categorizing types of vulnerabilities and associated attacks.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in Information Technology, Cybersecurity

  • Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years
