Purpose:
As the Senior Manager, Energy Efficiency & Customer Programs you would be responsible for providing leadership to multi-state teams in the Company's design, development and implementation of gas and electric energy efficiency and customer programs for NH, MA, the Central Region and, potentially in the future, other areas of the company. This senior manager oversees the design, strategy, planning, research, marketing, implementation, tracking, regulatory reporting and compliance of the company's natural gas and electric energy efficiency, and related, programs to residential, commercial and industrial customers. The position develops long-term business plans for influencing market adoption of energy efficiency services in the residential, commercial, industrial and municipal sectors, and manages an internal team of analysts and program coordinators as well as an external team of program implementation sub-contractors in order to ensure timely and professional completion of all tasks and to achieve specific program goals. This manager is also responsible for extensive regulatory interactions and negotiations, as well as collaboration with other utility and non-utility stakeholders, to drive strategy and achieve goals.

Accountabilities

Lead the design and development of the Company's natural gas and electric energy efficiency programs and oversee the development and implementation of the Company's 3-year energy efficiency program plans, filings, budgets, goals, and overall operation of the residential and commercial & Industrial sector program delivery in compliance with all relevant state regulations and laws.
  • Establish marketing strategies and create multi-channel communications plans to drive customer and various market sector participation in energy efficiency programs.
  • Monitor and conduct research, analyze data, investigate and identify customer trends and new and innovative program strategies to capture additional energy efficiency opportunities.
  • Lead the development and management of program benefit/cost effectiveness modeling, including all program and project savings calculations and validation of required inputs and assumptions.
  • Represent and lead the Company on various joint utility energy efficiency collaborative and national energy efficiency organization partnerships.
  • Create policies, procedures, project workflows and quality control mechanisms for the cost effective implementation of energy efficiency programs and achievement of the company's energy efficiency savings and performance incentive targets.
  • Oversee various market partners for contracted energy efficiency implementation support services and periodically prepare and solicit comprehensive requests for proposals from contractors, vendors and other external agents.
  • Collaborate with Business and Community Development to ensure that energy efficiency options are effectively included in the sales portfolio to maximize both sales growth as well as energy efficiency results, while remaining within the limitations of the regulatory programs.
  • Manage the review process and approval of all energy efficiency customer project offer letters, scope-of-work descriptions and technical specifications, program savings calculations, vendor invoices and customer rebates.
  • Represent and promote the Company at customer and trade meetings, events, presentations and regulatory proceedings.
  • Produce and deliver all mandated monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc reports related to the company's energy efficiency programs to state regulators and independent system operator, along with periodic reports to external agencies and government affiliates.
  • Lead and administer periodic analysis, evaluation, process, impact, opportunity assessment, and measurement and verification research studies to assess the company's energy efficiency program activities.
  • Provide expert testimony in support of the Company's energy efficiency program activities during adjudicatory procedures.
  • Assemble regular, and ad-hoc, internal management reports including activity-to-goal status updates, program savings estimates, budget performance and forecasts.
  • Foster a high performance multi-state work group that is results-driven where performance is measured on program targets.
  • Demonstrate and advocate behaviors necessary to enhance employee morale, ownership/accountability and collaboration.
  • Conduct regular meetings with direct staff, provide feedback and coaching on team member performance and behavior, and provide documentation for performance goals and personal development plans

Education & Experience

  • Advanced well-developed skills and knowledge within a specific professional discipline involving the integration of theory and principles with organizational practices and precedents
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Travel Requirements - Some travel is required for this position. Approximately 30-40% of time will be outside of assigned office location. Both air and vehicle travel as well as occasional out of country travel. A passport is required within 4 months of accepting the position.
