Description

Mandate: The senior accountant’s responsibilities include accurate and timely recording of financial transactions within the company’s financial systems, creating batches, performing month end book closing processes and monthly reports, financial analysis of results, and analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts. In addition, support for budgets, forecasting and audit (internal and external) is required.

Job Functions:

  • Actively support and participate in monthly financial close cycle to facilitate the production of timely and accurate financial statements

  • Prepare monthly journal entries

  • Prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations

  • Adhere to the monthly book closing schedule including the processing of journal entries and analysis of accounts to accurately value accounts on the general ledger.
    Prepare timely and accurate analysis and reports (standard and ad-hoc) for activity ranging from high volume transactional to technical level of moderate difficulty.

  • Support all internal units of the business including utility operations, regulatory, customer service, procurement and all administrative levels.

  • Provide analysis of information for users of financial information.

  • Provide solutions to business issues as well as embracing change as an essential component of performance

  • Complete special projects as needed e.g. support for audits, supporting regulatory rate cases

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA a plus

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in general accounting, utility experience a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities to meet deadlines

  • Demonstrate an ability to problem solve by grasping the key drivers of issues and thinking through solutions that are effective and efficient

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to establish a high level of confidence with internal personnel and external contacts
