PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES/ ACCOUNTABILITY
This position supports the finance and accounting functions of the Company and all of its facilities.
Provides and improves reporting for financial, audit and rate case purposes as they apply to the job functions. Maintains the
balance sheet for reporting and informs management of any and all issues, as well as to work through the issues to resolution.
Maintains positive ongoing relationships with developers and management companies. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage fixed assets for Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois water entities.
Manage developer line extension agreements for accounting and refunding.
Maintain balance sheet reconciliations; keep manager aware of issues, etc.
Assists with audits.
Assists with rate cases.
Gain experience in Smartlist building; create reports, queries, etc for accounting use.
Gain experience in GP for ensuring proper system workflow, process improvements.
Projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience which would include some of the following:
Minimum of two (2) years senior level accounting experience handling increasingly complex analysis and responsibilities.
Team leadership and/or supervisory/management experience.
Excellent Excel skills
Understanding of GAAP
Knowledge and experience with computer accounting systems
Does not immediately supervise other staff, however does assist in work flow decision making which includes
interaction with and possible direction of others.
General office environment.
Occasional travel inside and outside of the state.
Work requires the ability to make decisions that are within office and corporate standards and guidelines, seeking assistance
when necessary. Works on projects that facilitate work flow between departments and individuals and must be able to perform
duties and function effectively with minimal supervision. Must be able to balance reporting to direct manager as well as other
individuals as much of the work is project based or linked to home office processes. The work is widely varied and includes
involvement with accounting, customer service and operations personnel, as well as vendors and possibly customers.
Requires the ability to communicate research results effectively including recommendations regarding procedure
development and implementation.
Strong mental demands on a daily basis.
Responsible for handling multiple high level and complex tasks at one time
Responsible for communicating critical information and offering suggestions to management
