Description

Mandate: This position is primarily responsible for managing the corporate tax matters of the Liberty East group of companies and is a key position in the tax department to ensure entities under the Liberty East group meet their external and internal tax reporting and compliance requirements.

Job Functions:

  • Prepare or review U.S. GAAP quarterly and annual income tax provisions and effective tax rate reconciliations for Liberty East group to support public reporting and stand-alone financial statement requirements. Ensure appropriate internal controls are executed.

  • Work with third-party tax preparers to ensure Liberty East group income tax returns are filed accurately and timely

  • Support the regulatory filing and forecasting process to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Sponsor testimony as needed

  • Assist in long-term tax forecasting and annual tax expense budgeting

  • Ensure local income tax provisions are appropriately recorded on a timely basis

  • Work with financial statement and government tax auditors to ensure smooth audit processes

  • Provide technical tax support for sales and property tax matters

  • Assist in tax research and planning assignments

  • Provide income tax subject matter expertise support for long term enterprise resource planning project

  • Respond to ad hoc tax queries and advise internal parties of tax implications on transactions as needed

  • React to change productively and undertake other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in U.S. corporate income tax along with a professional accounting designation (CPA preferred)

  • Exposure to regulated utility income tax matters preferred, but not required

  • Degree in tax, accounting, finance, or business

  • Self-directed and ability to work independently in a subsidiary location and report to headquarters in a timely, comprehensive manner

  • Excellent communication skills (both written & oral) and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with other team members and different departments

  • Attention to detail and strong hands-on skills

  • Able to work with and meet tight deadlines

  • Proficient in the use of MS office products; SAP or similar; Power Plan and Power Tax exposure preferred; Hyperion smart-view preferred

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
