Responsible for planning, organizing, and assisting in implementing the Liberty Utilities Supplier Diversity Program in California. Stay in compliance with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) mandated G.O.156.


This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.

  • Develops the Utility Supplier Diversity Program (USDP) in conjunction with Management and Executive Staff to identify the Program’s objectives and to deliver results against it, and if granted procurement authority, incorporates diverse business enterprises in the procurement process.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive supplier diversity strategies that align with business objectives for Liberty Utilities companies in California.
  • Sets substantial and verifiable short-term (one year), mid-term (three years), and long-term (five years) goals for the recruitment and utilization of Women, Minority, Disabled Veteran, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender Business Enterprises. (WMDVLGBTE’s)
  • Promotes utility recruitment and use of WMDVBLGBTE’s to ensure inclusion of these business enterprises in Company sourcing/procurement processes.
  • Coordinates the creation of the annual USDP report and files it with the CPUC.
  • Develops and works with Regulatory department on data requests from the CPUC and other entities as required.
  • Chairs the USDP Steering Committee along with active support from Executive Staff working within Liberty Utilities companies in California.
  • Serves on industry committees relating to Company’s USDP.
  • Represents Liberty Utilities at the Joint Utilities meetings and other events.
  • Travels as required to support the Supplier Diversity program activity - potentially up to 20% of the time.


Education & Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the supplier diversity/utility industry
  • Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity qualification is preferred. Or the individual would be expected to obtain this certification within 12 months of obtaining the position.
  • Proficiency in personal computers skills and have intermediate to advanced skills with the Microsoft suite of office products.
  • Have effective verbal and written skills to communicate in English with others including internal and external customers under normal and adverse conditions.
  • Must have a high degree of accuracy and strong work ethic.
  • Have good organizational, creativity, problem-solving, and math skills.
  • Have effective public speaking, presentation, and research skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and also function in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and organize multiple assignments with limited time constraints and changing requirements.
  • Must have a valid California Class C driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
