COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $67,125 - $100,000 annually depending on skills and experience.

In addition to salary, Liberty Utilities offers an incentive plan based on company and individual performance.

Mandate:
The Community Water Resources Coordinator is primarily responsible for the promotion of water use efficiency to the customers of Liberty Utilities as well as liaisons with regulators and other stakeholders on water use efficiency initiatives. This position plans, coordinates and executes Company events and workshops; prepares outreach materials; and updates and maintains the Company’s website and social media presence.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Community Outreach

  • Works with managers to plan and schedule community events

  • Assists in the development and implementation of public information programs to keep the public informed regarding Liberty Utilities’ activities, accomplishments and points of view

  • Develop materials, and coordinates and leads community workshops

  • Responsible for creating and gathering content, videos, and photos for marketing materials

  • Creates advertisements and press releases for events and company news

  • Creates quarterly customer newsletters and coordinates email and/or mail distribution

  • Responsible for running promotional campaigns to encourage customer participation in Liberty Utilities programs

  • Leads Liberty Utilities social media program

  • Keeps website up-to-date

     

Water Use Efficiency-Related Functions:

  • Reviews and makes recommendations for water use efficiency practices, procedures, and programs

  • Develops and implements water conservation programs as outlined in Liberty Park’s Water Use Efficiency Plan

  • Coordinates conservation program activities with Central Basin Municipal Water District, Metropolitan Water District and other local and state agencies

  • Represents the Company at various industry groups and may serve on local, regional and/or state panels or committees relating to conservation

  • Prepares and conducts conservation education programs to community groups, homeowner associations, and other organizations

  • Prepares and files necessary reports to regulators or outside parties

  • Prepares, recommends, implements, and tracks an annual budget for conservation activities

  • Orders and provides appropriate conservation educational materials and supplies for customers

  • Keeps abreast of current developments, trends, and legislative action in the water conservation field

  • Schedules and conducts water audits

     

    Other Functions:

  • Processes and manages contracts for services

  • Develops and monitors budgets for community outreach and conservation activities

  • Works weekends, holidays, and other overtime as required

  • Drives Company vehicles and travels occasionally

  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; reports all unsafe activities to the supervisor, Manager of Safety Services, and/or Human Resources
    Performs various other duties as may be assigned

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Equivalent to a BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public relations, communications, journalism, business administration, political science, environmental studies, water resources or closely related field.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication abilities

  • Responsible experience in water use efficiency programs.

  • Responsible experience as a public information officer, or experience in developing and coordinating community outreach programs.

  • An American Water Works Association Water Conservation Practitioner Grade 1 Certificate or be able to obtain the certificate within one year of hire

  • Thorough knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and methodologies of water conservation

  • Effective telephone etiquette and customer relations skills

  • At least intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience in CIS systems a plus

  • Strong organizational, analysis, problem-solving, and math skills

  • Effectively plan activities, set priorities, and identify alternative course of action when needed

  • Exercise independent judgment, discretion, finesse, professionalism, and tact in all areas of work including matters of a sensitive and/or confidential nature

  • Effective interpersonal skills; must be able to work with people at all levels of the organization and also with customers and industry professionals

  • Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task

  • Able to work independently but also to function in a team environment

  • Professional appearance as a front-line representative of the Company

  • Be able to meet established goals and deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish language) verbal and written skills are highly preferred

  • A valid California Class C driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Be able to travel for business; may require overnight travel and work during evenings and weekends

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Vision and hearing correctable to enable understanding of instructions and performance of job duties.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in English, both orally and in writing.

  • Sufficient physical dexterity to walk, drive, lift, carry, stoop, bend, push, pull, and climb stairs.

  • Ability to handle (lift, carry, operate, etc.) materials and equipment necessary for the job.*
