Accurately reads water meters, interpreting and recording volumes used and reporting such volumes. Performs meter tests, meter change outs and maintain meter shop and other meter related work that maybe assigned.


  • Read meters, verifying accuracy of meter numbers, meter locations, meter instructions, including surveys deemed necessary by the utility.

  • Work outdoors in any and all weather conditions.

  • Report on tampered, inverted electric meters and report broken meter seats.

  • Know and abide by company’s safety policy and procedures.
  • Perform routine meter box and meter setting maintenance.
  • Keep daily records of worked and materials used.
  • Accurately track meter stock and perform monthly meter inventory counts
  • Perform meter change outs as assigned



Education & Experience


  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid driver license

  • Must speak professionally to customers, always being courteous and respectful.

  • Must be able to deal with change and difficult situations.

  • Must become thoroughly familiar with Company Safety Rules.

  • Must pass meter reading aptitude test and physical ability test. Upon satisfactory completion of training which includes safety training, dog bite prevention training, meter pro online reading
