Purpose

The Project Developer will lead the early-stage development of Greenfield wind projects from opportunity identification through to late-stage development. This is a fast-paced and multi-faceted role facing multiple internal and external stakeholders and requires keen commercial acumen and negotiating skills.

Accountabilities

Lead all aspects of bringing new wind projects to market including:
  • Use strong project management skills to coordinate all development activities, driving project team members to progress project towards meeting both financial and schedule expectations
  • Originate opportunities by synthesizing knowledge of markets, technical considerations, financial metrics, and offtake strategies
  • Identify and develop relationships with stakeholders; effectively communicate with a range of audiences, including technical and market experts, other developers, government officials, utilities, and consultants
  • Compile documentation, attend meetings, coordinate necessary studies, and other tasks needed to obtain permits for wind projects at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Support the internal Power Marketing group to prepare proposals for offtake opportunities
  • Ensure proper record keeping documenting project and opportunity related activities and discussions
  • Additional duties as required
Education & Experience
  • University degree in Business or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related role with proven track record of leading and managing a multi-disciplinary teams, preferably in renewable energy or other power generation sectors
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills; the ability to develop clear and concise development plans and presentations regarding project economics, status, timeline, and risk assessments
  • Self-driven with a proven track record of originating new business opportunities
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving ability and resiliency in the face of complex project challenges
  • Diverse experience covering both technical and commercial roles preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within North America
