Reporting to the Director, Treasury and Planning, the Senior Treasury & Credit Analyst will perform analytical modeling to assess and minimize the company's exposure to credit risk, negotiate transaction documents and support the Treasury Operations team in their daily activities. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to multi-task and enjoy the challenge of tackling new and exciting opportunities


Credit and Financial Risk Management

  • Perform detailed credit risk analysis, including analysis of financial data and ratios to qualify new anx existing counterparties
    Utilize external sources such as S&P and Bloomberg to research and obtain important industry and counterparty data for credit risk evaluation

  • Perform regular reviews of financial and credit data for account portfolio

  • Calculate and assign credit risk ratings based upon the output of proprietary scoring models

  • Initiate modifications of counterparty credit limits to support increased business opportunities or to protect the company from losses

  • Partner with commercial teams to negotiate master agreements

  • Provide inputs to the energy risk management system (ACES) and generate periodic credit risk and performance reports

  • Perform collateral margining activities

  • Lead Dodd-Frank reporting and liaise with the compliance group with respect to the middle office function.

  • Implement the company guarantee issuance policy and monitor company exposure to guarantees issued to third parties

  • Assist in the monitoring of the company’s FX and interest rate exposure

  • Prepare analysis to risk management oversight committee as required

  • Understand and follow rating agency methodologies, report to senior management of changes

  • Monitor and report on industry peer credit rating actions

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders


Treasury Operations

  • Assist the treasury operations team with daily cash management, wire initiation, liquidity management and forecasting activities
    Support capital market and capital planning activities

  • Support quarterly financial reporting

  • Help maintain the treasury management system


Special Projects

  •     Support special projects as required

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience

Additional Information

  • MBA and/or CTP, CPA, CFA designations considered and asset
    Good understanding of energy industry contracts including EEIs, NAESBs, ISDAs and Power Purchase Agreements

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in credit risk management, preferably as part of a treasury team

  • Highly skilled in complex financial analysis as it relates to evaluating creditworthiness

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Understanding of power markets and trading instruments

  • Proficient use of Excel and PowerPoint
