Description
The Water and Wastewater Facility Operator performs a full range of technical level water and wastewater facility duties, plus operation and maintenance for the facility.  Duties include implementation of process control strategies, process monitoring, and equipment operation, troubleshooting and maintenance. Performs all other duties as may be assigned.
 
Essential Functions
  • Operates, maintains, monitors, controls, and repairs water and wastewater facility equipment including pumps, motors, blowers, chemical feeds, sludge equipment and basic laboratory instruments to ensure treated water meets Liberty Utilities, state and EPA standards.
  • Obtains samples and performs laboratory analysis to determine proper process and operational controls.
  • Recognizes the need for and makes treatment and operational changes to the water processes to meet water quality standards.
  • Monitors and operates all equipment.
  • Reads and interprets meters, gauges, and instruments. Enters daily readings into computer databases.
  • Makes equipment adjustments, lubrications, and repairs.
  • Works well and gets along with company staff and outside people
     
Requirements
  • Work requires specialized knowledge of wastewater treatment and water treatment principles and practices at a technical level. Work requires knowledge of: Operations, methods, practices, techniques, and servicing requirements of water and wastewater facilities. Safety practices in operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater facilities.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the operation of water and wastewater treatment or water facilities is highly desired. Experience operating heavy equipment such as a backhoe, pump truck, jetter or other water and wastewater related equipment is highly desirable.
  • Valid Texas Operator’s Driver’s License. Grade C Water or Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State of Texas is desired. Must have or be able to obtain a Class B DCL within six months of hire date.
