The Water and Wastewater Operator performs a full range of technical level water and wastewater duties, plus operation and maintenance for the water distribution and wastewater collection facilities.  Duties include but are not limited to: implementation of process control strategies, process monitoring, and equipment operation, troubleshooting and maintenance. Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Operates, maintains, monitors, controls, and repairs water and wastewater equipment including pumps, float controls, motors, and chemical feeds, to ensure  water meets Liberty Utilities, state, and EPA standards.
  • Obtains water samples as required to demonstrate compliance with ADEQ and EPA standards.
  • Recognizes the need for and makes operational changes to the water distribution processes to meet water quality standards.
  • Monitors and operates telemetry system and computerized process monitoring equipment.
  • Reads and interprets meters, gauges, and instruments. Enters daily readings into computer databases.
  • Makes equipment adjustments, lubrications, and repairs.
  • Works well and gets along with company staff and outside people
Job Requirements
  • Work requires specialized knowledge of wastewater collections and water distribution principals and practices at a technical level. Work requires knowledge of: Operations, methods, practices, techniques, and servicing requirements of water and wastewater  facilities. Safety practices in operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater facilities. Computerized treatment process applications and data logging functions.
  • At least 3 years experience in the operation of water distribution and/or wastewater collection facilities preferred.
  • Valid Arizona Operator’s Driver’s License.
  • Grade 1 Water or Wastewater Collections Operator Certificate issued by the State of Arizona, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Work requires the ability to read and understand technical drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, correspondences and legal documents, at a technical level.
  • Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, as well as algebra and geometry.
  • Work requires the ability to write correspondences and memorandums.
