Purpose

This position is to assist and interface in the overall land acquisitions, planning and activities for Liberty Power Company’s (LPCo) major renewable projects for all land tenure and security on all needed land, including initial public and community relations. The role also requires strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with various stakeholders and ability to travel between 70%-85% of their time. The role will be active in all aspects of origination, development, and construction of renewable projects. During the project development cycle and the land acquisition, the Land Development Specialist will remain involved as an agent for Liberty. The Land Development Specialist is accountable for the prioritization and deployment of tasks and resources against approved projects with a clear view to land and stakeholder success. The Land Development Specialist will prioritize, initiate, evaluate and complete all significant steps, in partnership with the Senior Manager, Land and Stakeholder as well as the Director to ensure overall business development goals are met.

Accountabilities

Meeting Landowners and Stakeholders

  • Lead land negotiator for at afield level for specific project teams on all matters related to property rights and interests required for renewable energy projects

  • Attend government meetings as required to obtain or exchange information

  • Collaborate with Liberty’s permitting and planning team to manage, investigate and recommend new land representatives/liaisons in the new development jurisdictions for LPCo

  • Recommendations for execution and improvements as well as, coordination and attendance at community engagement events with local stakeholders and landowners

  • Meet and /or communicate with existing landowners and stakeholders to maintain/build relationships with Liberty Power. This includes documenting all landowner interactions and commitments to ensure a supported transition into construction and operations

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to support multiple concurrent project teams

  • Manage and utilize reputable PR (Public Relations) firm as approved by communications per renewable project, as applicable

Project Management

  • On certain assigned projects, provide primary leadership on securing the needed land packages for the project, using external resources

Other Requirements

  • Travel required 70-85% of the time in Canada and United States

  • Any similar and /or related duties as requested from time to time

  • Real estate title review and practices needed for real property transactions

  • Upon assignment, manage due diligence tasks associated with property and land agreements related to acquisitions

Education & Experience

  • College or professional program of 3 years or less
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Professional designation from International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA) or other related professional organization is preferred.
