Summary: Works in a combined effort with various departments of a natural gas distribution utility with day-to-day project administration activities.


  • Scheduling of the yearly leak survey program for the technicians who perform walking surveys, winter patrols, monitoring of cast iron encroachments and bridge inspections.
  • Maintains the company’s CGI database for the walking survey effort.
  • Supply the C&M department with maps produced by the GIS system for routine maintenance and daily work.
  • Monitors the dig safe screen for dig tickets to be executed.
  • Maintaining the company compliance database with current information.
  • Prepare monthly cathodic protection reports to be used for work assignments for the upcoming month (i.e. leak rechecks, cast iron encroachment monitoring, & compliance issues).
  • Files leak information and cast iron encroachments.
  • Be able to conduct field activities on an as need basis.
  • Permitting when required.
  • Work closely with the C&M Supervisors relating to the field work orders that are completed by the acting foreman to assure that the information documented is accurate.
  • Work closely with facility locators to have the most up to date information when working in the field as it relates to dig safe mark outs and distribution system mark outs for the C&M construction crews and outside contractors.      
  • Working in the company’s GIS database, enters leak information as it is discovered and clearing of leak repairs
  • Updates the company’s GIS database, per the daily work orders completed by the C&M department, facility locators, and customer field services.
  • Updates the company’s GIS database when incorrect information has been detected.
  • Post all of the daily GIS database entries timely in order for the facility locators to have the most up to date information when working in the field, as it relates to dig safe mark outs and distribution system mark outs for the C&M construction crews and outside contractors.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact appropriately with others
  • Ability to work hours and days, including overtime, weekends and holidays, as necessary or desirable to meet business needs and deadlines
  • GIS or geography experience a plus
  • Understanding of a natural gas distribution system a plus
