The Engineer position is responsible for the planning, selection, development of procedures, compliance to applicable codes and inspection of work in progress. Provides input regarding the development and evaluation of Company operating standards.  May conduct product evaluation and present recommendations.  Reviews paperwork regarding completed jobs for accuracy and adherence to original design specifications.  


The Engineer must have the vision and ability to make well formulated plans, where necessary, related to engineering and design of gas distribution system facilities to meet Federal and State regulations, Company Policies, customer needs, system reliability and safety, growth demands and effectively manage the Company’s DIMP and Gas System Enhancement Program.

Responsibilities include:

This position works on a variety of engineering assignments requiring broad knowledge of engineering specialty and the effect the work has upon other fields. Solves problems using combination of standard or modifies procedures and participates in planning objectives. May perform independent studies/analyzes and interprets and draws own conclusions.   This position is not supervised in detail – only on more difficult assignments.  The position provides technical guidance to less experienced professionals/technicians assigned to common project. May have direct reports. 


This position will also be partly responsible for GIS mapping of newly installed and abandoned gas facilities into the companies GIS system. The expected split of duties is 75% project engineering and 25% GIS mapping.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 0 – 4 years of related experience
  • Requires experience with drafting and GIS software (e.g., CAD, Smallworld, ESRI).
  • Experience in Gas Distribution System design, engineering and planning preferred.
