Mandate: The Vice President of Finance & Administration West will be reporting to the Regional President and serving as an integral member of the senior management team contributing to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. He/she will be responsible for providing organizational leadership, long-range financial planning matters and to establish & maintain company-wide financial and administrative objectives, policies, programs, and practices, which ensure the company of a continuously sound financial structure and compliance with all applicable financial rules and regulations

Job Functions:

  • Advise Regional Leadership as to Region-wide strategic direction in policy and planning for short and long term accounting, tax and budget issues and ensure complete integration with finance and operations groups in support of the attainment of corporate objectives
  • Oversee development of financial analysis models for the Region (Capital, ROE, Earnings, 5 year model, and 20 year model) to assist with the decision-making process regarding research, initiation and assessment of all operations projects and their impact on corporate earnings
  • Responsible for Regional budget processes, encompassing planning, forecasting, development and allocation, as well as controls, reporting and analysis
  • Design the plan for the establishment of Regional annual targets and ensure that the annual plans are built for operational and financial success
  • Align and integrate all financial and operations functions in order to ensure tight fiscal controls, compliance with SOX, and support the achievement of the Region’s tactical and strategic objectives
  • Establish the mission and goals for Regional Finance, ensure that projects undertaken by the department support, and foster organizational direction and goals strategy
  • Monthly and quarterly financial reporting to Management and West Region Board of Directors, including presentations thereto
  • Responsible for fostering a culture focusing on employee engagement and overseeing all efforts for the department on a Regional level
  • Has direct involvement with States Legal and Regulatory functions by overseeing all legal aspects of regulatory matters involving government agencies, including supporting rate case filings and testimony
  • Has direct oversight of 3 different State Finance functions (Downey, Arizona & Texas)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Attained CPA or an MBA specialized in accounting/finance
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive growth in business support or commercial roles required
  • Demonstrated track record of success in driving the company’s financial and operation growth efficiency
  • Broad range of financial, management and business modeling experience in utility service business activities and systems preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills with a focus on providing forward-looking insight and value-added analysis
  • Ability to build and develop teams of multi-skilled financial professionals
  • Strong attention to detail as our stakeholders include the Board of Directors and senior management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to take complex information and "package" it for management
  • And most importantly, a positive attitude; lots of hustle; friendly, and fun to work with
  • Previous experience in Regulatory environment
  • Working knowledge of SAP
