Mandate: Responsible for planning and scheduling of substation construction and maintenance projects by monitoring the progress of O&M and Capital projects and construction material so that jobs are constructed in time to satisfy the needs of Operations. Also, responsible for assisting the Manager with safely operating Substation facilities and maintaining Substation facilities for reliable service as well as outage restoration and disaster management in a specific geographic area.

Job Functions:

  • Schedule substation construction projects by working within a team environment to monitor the progress of substation projects, evaluate the available construction material, and the progress of construction to provide service which exceeds expectations.
  • Promote safe work practices by leading by example. monitor and enforce area safety program by emphasizing individual responsibility and ensuring compliance with all applicable procedures, work rules, regulations and codes.
  • Assume responsibilities of the Manager of Substation Operations in his/her absence. Maintain 24-hour-a-day availability to respond to service interruptions and emergencies to minimize their scope and duration.
  • Assist in developing an O&M budget and manage expenses to stay within the approved budget.
  • Manage construction projects efficiently and review expenditures to determine the accuracy of actual expenditures to estimates. Determine and report the causes of significant deviations from estimates.
  • Develop personnel to perform their task safely and efficiently while motivating personnel to emphasize on individual growth and customer focus.

Minimum Qualifications: Electrician or Line Journeyman with high school diploma or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree in Engineering with related utility experience.
