The primary responsibilities of this position are to support the overall profitability and ongoing viability of Liberty Power’s operating assets and contribute to the realization of the expected value and return on the assets either directly or through delegation to other departments.

Asset Strategy is responsible, either directly or through delegation to other departments, for all financial, contractual and stakeholder issues related to the portfolio of power generation assets owned by Liberty Power (Wind, Solar, Hydro and Thermal). This role will specifically contribute, directly or indirectly, to the solar and hydro portfolio.

  • Support the management of the overall profitability and ongoing viability of the operating assets and focus on mitigating lifecycle costs, maximizing profits and ROI;
  • Ensure business operates in accordance with the long and short term view pertaining to financial expectations, contractual and regulations pertaining to the assets;
  • Prepare monthly reports for external stakeholders;
  • Manage ongoing commercial issues engaging external stakeholders as required, monitor compliance of contracts and agreements, manage Power Purchase Agreements, operating contracts, support negotiation of new and revised agreements, manage and optimize property taxes, property tax abatements, landowner agreements and stakeholder relations;
  • Development of business plans for all generating assets, including P&L and Capital budgets;
  • Participate in the transition of new assets acquired or developed by Business Development into the Liberty Power portfolio;
  • Perform financial modelling to support capital projects and contract negotiations;

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with a concentration in business, finance, engineering and/or economics;
  • 3-6 years of related professional experience;
  • 2+ years managing specific or similar business;
