Mandate: This position is responsible for driving APCOs  EHS standards, policy and procedures and continuous improvement over the Regional EHS Program. This will be done by implementing training, tools and techniques to the Wind farm processes and procedures, leading to process and procedures to drive improvements in our risk mitigation process. This position leads and assists in the Design, Development and Deployment of APCOs Risk to its employees and assets. Under the joint authority of the Sr. Business Manager and the Director of SHE&S, the successful candidate will provide H&S support to our solar and wind operations and to our construction sites across in the US. The incumbent may also be called from time to time to travel to Canada to support operations. The H&S Coordinator will also be responsible for the H&S Program, rules and regulations application, H&S budget and SST training (planning and delivery). The candidate must be willing to travel frequently across the United States and Canada. Therefore we are open to candidates based throughout the US and Canada.

Job Functions: 
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge verbal and written communication skills with Risk Mitigation of all functions of a Wind farm.
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge in Safety Inspections/Audits and Safety Inspection/Audit Reports for all facilities in the region
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge to Perform Risk Assessments and JHA’s for all work done in the region
  • Has the ability to Create and maintain Emergency Response plans for each facility in the region
  • as the ability to Perform Risk Assessments and JHA’s for all work done in the region
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge to Investigate Incidents and Accidents at facilities in the region
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge to train all managers and employees on the APCOs EHS Training matrix
  • Have an advanced level of verbal and written communication skills to train all parties  in the region
  • Has the ability to perform or obtain train the trainer qualifications on all of APCOs EHS training matrix
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge to Perform audits in Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, Operation, Mechanical and/or hydraulics, in APCOs and OEMs turbine models/tools/equipment/assets
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge to Perform Environmental Inspections/Audits
  • Has the ability to perform and Chair the quarterly Regional Safety Meetings
  • Have an advanced level of knowledge to approve safety equipment for the region 
  • Have an advanced level of verbal and written communication skills to push  APCOs solid understanding of “Safety First”  to all parties in the region
Minimum Qualifications: 
  • College diploma or university degree in H&S or a combination of relevant professional experience and education.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in H&S
  • Good knowledge of US regulations
  • Practical and technical in-depth knowledge in the following areas: Electrical safety, lock out/Tag out, confined space, fall protection, rigging and hoisting and step surface safety
  • Professional experience in hydroelectricity or a related industrial field would be considered as an asset
  • Excellent meeting/training facilitation, communication and English written skills
  • Coach approach, ability to influence and advice
  • Professionalism, drive, self-starter, initiative and innovation
  • Willing to travel frequently
  • Relevant experience within renewables is preferred (Wind & Solar)
