Purpose

This role will support the renewable power generation business development team, providing industry market research and analysis through data gathering, collection, analysis and reporting. Optionally, this role will support the analyst team with its financial analyses needed in the project acquisition and development process, depending on the skills of the successful candidate. You will gain a deeper understanding of developments relating to the renewable industry in this role.

Job Functions

  • Conduct internet and subscription based research and analysis of power markets across the US and Canada
  • Support the financial analysts by providing research and analysis, and optionally hands-on financial modelling support, for ongoing project acquisition and development efforts
  • Assist with market outreach, managing relationships and maintaining internal databases
  • Review and analyze special areas of interest, providing ad-hoc support to the ongoing renewable generation project development efforts
  • Participate in identified webinars and summarize findings
  • Presentation of research (report writing, collaborative presentation)

Education and Experience

  • 2nd to 4th year student attending College or University with a focus on Finance, Accounting, Environmental Studies, Business, Geography, or Renewable Energies
  • Market research experience of both public sources/records and purchased/private access data-bases
  • Strong attention to detail and writing skills
  • Data collection, analysis, and presentation skills
  • Basic understanding of financial metrics that drive financial success in private enterprise
  • Working knowledge of commodity market fundamentals
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
